Steel Profile

Steel profiles are essential structural sections, produced by hot or cold rolling, used in construction, frameworks, machinery, bridges, and industrial applications.

Steel Profile Information

A steel profile is one of the most widely used steel sections in construction, metal structures, and various industries. The term profile refers to sections with specific shapes and dimensions that are produced through hot rolling or cold rolling processes. These sections can be open (such as I-beams and channels) or closed (such as hollow sections and pipes).

Types of Steel Profiles

  1. Open Profiles
    • I-beam (I and H shapes): The main load-bearing member in structures.
    • Channel (U and C shapes): Used for frameworks and light structures.
    • Rebar (reinforcing bar): For reinforced concrete and structural elements.
    • Angle (L shape): For connections and corners in structures.
  1. Closed Profiles
    • Hollow sections (square and rectangular tubes): Used in doors, windows, railings, warehouses, and columns.
    • Steel pipes: For fluid transmission or industrial/structural applications.
    • Special profiles: Custom-made for specific industrial purposes.

Production Methods

  • Hot rolling: Steel billets are shaped at high temperature (e.g., I-beams, rebar).
  • Cold rolling: Steel sheets are formed at room temperature (e.g., tubes, door and window profiles).

Applications of Steel Profiles

  • Building construction (columns, steel frames, roofs, walls)
  • Metal doors and windows
  • Automotive and machinery industry
  • Bridges, towers, and warehouses
  • Piping and fluid transmission

Standards and Sizes

Steel profiles are produced according to Iranian national standards (ISIRI) or international standards (DIN, ASTM, EN). Their dimensions and thicknesses are usually specified in the Steel Section Tables (Stahlbau) or manufacturer catalogs.
